Lauren Mitchell is an award-winning writer, public speaker, and performance poet from the Greater Washington D.C. area.

As an artist, Mitchell strives to see beauty in the smallest things, critique society sincerely and honestly, and cultivate unity where there is division and controversy. Mitchell uses her original work of poetry to inspire, motivate, and empower youth to rise above their circumstances. 

Mitchell has ranked among the top five youth speakers in the country. She is a high school national moot court champion, holds multiple titles from Ivy League speech competitions, and formerly represented the U.S.A. at the Collegiate World Debate Championships in Chennai, India. Mitchell is also a coach for high school and collegiate debate teams, and is currently a student leader at Patrick Henry College. 

Mitchell's poetry routinely ends up "trending" on popular sites such as Tumblr and Facebook, with her quotes generating thousands of shares. Her goal is to uplift, inspire, and remind people that life is filled with 2nd chances. 

She currently holds the title of Miss Piedmont Region 2016 and 2nd Runner-Up at Miss Virginia 2016, where she was the first contestant to perform slam poetry as a talent.
